Warwick Regional Recreation Commission Hires Recreation and Parks Director

With the completion of the feasibility study to review the benefits of a Regional Recreation Commission, the Warwick Regional Recreation Commission (W.R.R.C.) has begun moving forward with the implementation of a number of the study’s key recommendations.  As was previously reported, one of the key findings of the feasibility study was the need for a Recreation and Parks Director to support the W.R.R.C.  In response to this conclusion, the Regional Recreation Commission hired Curtis Strasheim to serve as its Recreation and Parks Director.  The position is a part-time position that is being partially funded by the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Circuit Rider Program.  Curtis began work on August 8, 2005.  His office is located at the Lititz Community Center.

To the position, Curtis brings a good mix of educational credentials and professional experience.  He is a graduate of both Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota and South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota.  Curtis has previously served as the Parks and Recreation Director at Manor Township, PA, Calumet City, IL, and New London-Spicer, MN.  In addition to his experience as a Parks and Recreation Director, Curtis also brings 15 years of collegiate athletic coaching experience.

Some potential goals that he sees for the region include the continued development of the region’s parks and trail system, the development of a maintenance schedule to ensure facility upkeep, the continued promotion of a variety recreational opportunities for all age groups, and the continued development of relationships between the region’s existing recreational organizations.

If you have any questions for Curtis, feel free to contact him at (717) 626-5096 ext 237 or via email at cs237@lititzcommunitycenter.org.
